Earlier this year, Florida State looked to be the clear leader for Leesburg (Va.) Lee County four-star running back Ousmane Kromah.

But over the past few months, other schools appear to have gained ground on the Seminoles, including in-state Georgia, as well as Florida and Miami. Mike Norvell and Co. will now have a fight on their hands over the next few months, according to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons.

“If I had to truly describe his recruitment right now on the 1st of May, I’d say it’s a little bit more open the last six months, 10 months leading up to this moment,” Simmons said on Wednesday during On3’s Inside Scoop recruiting show. “Florida State has always been viewed as the team beat, the favorite. I think Georgia has come on strong since the running backs coach change there with Justin Crawford. He’s from south Georgia, he’s coached at a place like Lee County in the past. I think Florida is in the mix, and I think Miami is in the mix.

… I would probably lean slightly toward Georgia if I had to pick one school with the most buzz around it today. But this could still go three, four, five different ways over the next two months.”

Kromah talks Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Miami

Kromah took his first visit to Auburn this spring. He has visited Florida State and Georgia over half a dozen times. Miami has him on campus twice and he may return to Florida for another visit early in May.

He has locked in official visits with the Tigers, Gators, Seminoles, Bulldogs and Hurricanes and shared his quick thoughts on each with Simmons:

Auburn: “I just feel a good vibe with Auburn. Family is important me and Auburn has that vibe. I like how Coach Derrick Nix is a hands-on coach too.”

Florida: “Coach Jabbar Juluke is a coach I really like. I want to be pushed, I want to be coached hard and I really like his coaching style.”

Florida State: “Mike Norvell is a great guy. He is the most exciting guy in the world. Coach Norvell is calm, but energetic. It is hard to explain. I just have a good feeling around him.”

Georgia: “Coach Josh Crawford coached at Lee County, so I knew of him, but didn’t really know him. As soon as he got to Georgia though, we just connected. I am a quiet person, but I rock with him and we just clicked. He uses his words well and he made it easy and brought me out of my shell.”

Miami: “I love the coaches at Miami. Coach Matt Merritt and Coach Mario Cristobal always greet me and my mom with a smile too. In person or over face time, so that stands out also. I also like the diversity at Miami.”
