Florida State transfer point guard Jalen Warley is currently on a visit to Virginia, he told Houston Wilson of CavsCorner.com on Thursday afternoon. He’s just the prospect to visit the Cavaliers in the past few weeks. Virginia has swung and missed on several prospects this spring, and they’re currently in wait-and-see mode on class of 2024 four-star Trent Perry.

Warley has one year of eligibility remaining. The Cavaliers’ coaching staff currently has four openings available on their roster for the 2024-2025 season. With a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio last year, Warley could be a possible solution to help fill Virginia’s point guard void left by Reece Beekman.

Though at 6-foot-7, he’ll likely play multiple positions. The Cavaliers’ coaching staff has also been in hot pursuit of Trent Perry, who visited last month. The McDonald’s All-American has been weighing his options recently and has yet to make a college decision.

Warley stuffed the stat sheet with 7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game this year for the ‘Noles.

He really came on down the stretch this season, pouring in 23 points against the Pittsburgh Panthers on Feb. 11th. In the 2024 ACC Tournament against Virginia Tech (second round matchup), he pumped in 18 points and four assists in an 86-76 win. Warley also dished out a season-high of seven assists against Wake Forest on January 11th. He also enjoyed his best season as a sophomore, with career-high stats in every category including assists and assist/turnover ratio.

One of the highest ranked high school prospects in the 2021 cycle, Warley was a McDonald’s All-American. He was one of the highest ranked recruits in FSU basketball history. According to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2021 cycle, he was rated as the No. 45 overall player in America and a four-star recruit. Warley was also ranked as the No. 4 combo guard in the country for that cycle.

Florida State had a pretty disappointing year overall, but they finished 17-16. They still managed some quality wins on the season, a 77-71 win over Colorado, a 77-74 win over Virginia Tech, and an 87-82 win over Wake Forest. Jamir Watkins carried the Seminoles for much of the season, leading the team with 16.4 points per game. He also recently entered the transfer portal.

In the 2024 ACC Tournament, Watkins erupted for 34 points and 11 rebounds in the Seminoles’ 86-76 win over Virginia Tech. He was named All-ACC honorable mention this year.

Florida State featured one of the tallest teams in America yet again this year, as they usually have one of the taller and more athletic rosters in the country. According to KenPom’s average height metric, the Seminoles ranked No. 1 in the country in that measurable.
